The Principality of Liechtenstein is a very small, doubly landlocked country in Central Europe, lying between the Austrian state of Voralberg to the east and the Swiss cantons of St Gallen and Graubunden to the west. Mountainous, it is a winter sports resort, though it is perhaps best-known as a tax haven. Not only is it the smallest German-speaking country in the world, but also the only European country whose bordering countries are also landlocked.

Liechtenstein is not a hugely popular destination with tourists due partly because of its size and also the fact it doesn't have an international airport. The easiest way into the country is to fly to Zurich (Switzerland) 115 km away and travel on by train or car.
