Local Media

There are no homegrown English-language papers in Germany, but international press is widely available. There are many local-langauge papers, including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Sueddeutsche Zeitung (Munich-based), Die Welt (Berlin-based), Frankfurter Rundschau (Frankfurt am Main-based), Handelsblatt (Duesseldorf-based) and Financial Times Deutschland (Hamburg-based).

Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (ARD) is an organisation of regional public television and radio broadcasters, which operates Das Erste, the main national public TV channel, 7 regional TV networks, 2 national radio stations and around 50 and local radio stations.

ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) operates a second national public TV channel. There are also a number of commercial TV operators, including n-tv and N24 (rolling news), RTL (entertainment channels), Premiere (pay-TV) and Deutsche Welle TV - Germany's international TV service, in German, English and Spanish.

Deutschlandradio operates national public stations Deutschlandradio Kultur and Deutschlandfunk, both offering cultural and current affairs programmes. Deutsche Welle is the international radio broadcaster, offering services in many languages.
