Internal Transport

There is a regular air service between Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, with stops in Loubomo and Ouesso, and private charters are also available.

Rail services can be erratic, but can offer transport between Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire (takes approximately 3 days) and between Mbinda and Pointe-Noire. Its usually a good idea to book in advance. Rivers are vital for inland transport and are served by steamers, travelling up the Congo and Ubangi from Brazzaville.

Brazzaville has a taxi and minibus service, and taxis are also available in Loubomo and Pointe-Noire. Taxi fares have a flat rate and fares should be agreed beforehand. There are several car-hire firms in Brazzaville; however, the majority of roads are impassable in the wet season and sandy in the dry, and as such, are only suitable for 4-wheel-drive vehicles. There are a number of poorly marked army checkpoints throughout the country, often manned by undisciplined soldiers, and road travel at night can be dangerous.
