Internal Transport

There are over 300 internal flights a week in Bahrain, and travel between the smaller islands may be carried out by dhow or motorboat.

There is an excellent road system, and car hire is easy at the airport or at large hotels. Road signs are written in English and Arabic and speed limits are between 50-80 kph (31-50 mph) on all roads other than highways, which have a limit of 100 kph (62 mph).

Buses serve most towns and villages and metered taxis are also readily available, recognisable by their yellow number plates and orange side-wings. Non-metered share taxis may also be hired; these have white and orange number plates and a yellow circle with the licence number in black painted on the driver's door. Fares should always be agreed beforehand.
